One government to rule them all

This piece in the Times is quite chilling in my view, and no not the header on the “estate tax” if that’s not bad enough, but the disclosure of collusion with a “secret truce” between the three mainstream parties to find a consensus on long term care for the elderly. We find out that Andrew Lansley, the Tory shadow health secretary, had been negotiating with his Labour counterpart about finding a consensus on the issue.

These talks had been going on since November, to broker an agreement which would have seen Labour, Tories and the Liberal Democrats holding back from attacking one another's long term social care plans. What we might legitimately ask is if there was secret collusion on this issue, has there been the same type of collusion on immigration, the EU, and Climate Change?

So the cat is out of the bag now! I’ve said it before and will say it again; you cannot get a fag paper between the three mainstream political parties on most of the main policy issues facing Britain today, so what’s the point of a General Election when we’d end up with more of the same no matter who won.

Kind of reminds of something I once read………….

One Government to rule them all,
One Government to find them,
One Government to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.
